Career & Pathway Guides

Navigating the journey into healthcare can be complex, especially for students in rural and remote areas. These guides are designed to simplify the process by outlining clear, step-by-step pathways into various healthcare professions. They provide valuable insights into the educational requirements, potential career trajectories, and the diverse opportunities available in the healthcare sector. By utilizing these resources, educators can better support students in making informed decisions about their futures in healthcare.

University & Program Info

Helping students apply to university can be challenging—especially when it comes to healthcare degrees with specific entry pathways and rural admission schemes. This section brings together key WA universities offering health programs, along with resources to help you support students through the application process, including rural and Indigenous-specific entry streams.

Guest Talks & Individual Student Support

Sometimes all it takes is hearing from someone who’s been there to help a student believe they can do it too. I’m available to give virtual talks to schools in the Pilbara and surrounding regions. These sessions can cover healthcare career pathways, study tips, alternative entry routes, and what it’s really like to study medicine or work in health as someone from a rural background.

I also offer 1-on-1 support to motivated students—whether they need help understanding their options, guidance with applications, or someone to talk to who gets what it’s like coming from a remote town.

Ways I Can Support:

  • Classroom or year group talks (in-person or via Zoom)

  • Q&A sessions with students about uni life, healthcare careers, or GAMSAT

  • Help identifying the right pathway (TAFE, uni, bridging, etc.)

  • Application or scholarship advice for individual students

  • Informal mentoring or follow-up for interested students
